«La Frateria», Padre Eligio's Friary, was born in one of the most beautiful monuments made by man: the Convent of Saint Francis, founded by the Saint in 1212,5 years after his conversion, was the primary centre of encounter and love for his disciples, the «Fratelli Minori», the minor friars. It is a perfect example of mediaeval convent life. All the great Saints disciples of Saint Francis, passed through  this  place,  extraordinary  for  its peacefulness, the wonders of its woods and fields, the walleys of «Tuscia», the antique name for Tuscany. Here we still find the traces, the perfumes and the profound ecstasy of living. For these reasons Padre Eligio wanted to remove it from the ravages of time and man to create once again, for other troubled young men, that house of love and reconciliation that the friars had once desired and enjoyed. After 12 years of painstaking restoration, carried out by volunteers and drug addicts, the Convent has returned to its beauty and its vocation. Today it houses a remarkable community of young people who, from drugs or from the world, have learned to search for the signs of time and heaven, one of the 35 Mondo X communities in Italy, with a will to show to other men a sign concerning love, men and living together. For friends from far away, the young people have created a small, sweet dining room and spiritual and humane guest rooms where travellers can find comfort for the body (Ah! What a gift of Cod the body is) and more lastingly find concrete answers to the eternal, disturbing doubts of the soul about a life given by Cod, like the flowers, the clouds and the sun.
