Where it is and what it contains: the Biblioteca Comunale of Cetona is located in the historic centre, on the first floor of Palazzo Minutelli (Via Roma, 41), that is to say the Town Hall. It consists of five large communicating rooms divided in: Sezione Ragazzi (books for children), Fondo Antico (ancient books), Fondo Corrente (modern books), Fondo Coppa and Fondo Villari (specialized in historical , social economic and legal subjects). There are more than 22000 books and this number is increasing since the Comune keeps on buying new books to update the Fondo Corrente and the Sezione Ragazzi. Library Services: to enter the library is easy: it is sufficient to fill in a form with one's personal information. The Librarian immediately gives a numbered card with the new member's name, surname and address on. It is not necessary to be resident in the Cetona area to benefit by the services of the Library, the domestic loan of books included. It is possible to go to the Library to read and to study, alone or in small groups. During the school year a lot of young people go to the Library to get a deeper knowledge of what they study and also to find something delightful to read in their spare time. Guided visits are allowed to elementary and secondary schools on written application to the "Assessorato alla Cultura" from the teacher who agrees upon the day and the hour of the visit calling the telephone number 0578/237611 during working hours. It is possible to consult encyclopaedias and other general works which are excluded from the service of domestic loan.Where the books are: the books are arranged on open shelves so the reader can choose them without any help from the Librarians: so it is possible to find by chance interesting books while looking for something else. The books are ordered according to the world wide system of classification, the decimal Dewey system: the topics are divided in ten classes, each of which contains 100 numbers. up to three books for two months. It is not necessary to be resident in
