Cetona, in the Province of Siena in Tuscany, is a small. mediaeval fortress village of about
1000 inhabitants. It is located at the foot of Mount Cetona overlooking the
Senese Val di Chiana. Its buildings cluster around
the castle, a stronghold once inhabited by its feudal owners, today a
witness to the 1000
year-old history of this place. Though there are dozens of such places,
should you have the patience to follow the tour I have prepared for you
on this site you will realise
Cetona is much more than this. Should the austere atmosphere of
religious, military and
chivalrous events evoked by castles,
churches and ancient manors not be enough for your taste, well, here you can go much further back in
time. For instance, you can enter the Bronze Age
caves where the
lives of our forefathers were not yet describable as history but as
pre-history. Should you in addition be considering a holiday made of contact
with unspoilt nature,
amid paths in thi amid paths in thick
woods, then you can also find all this on the slopes
of Mount Cetona mentioned
before. There you can relax with free thoughts and no daily cares. We
have other surprises in store for your
holiday: excellent wines and
good
cuisine, the
renowned local olive oil, said to be one of the best in Italy, many spa
centres with waters of proven healing virtues, many spa
